Ice Maker
Ice Maker repair, diagnosed properly
Ice makers are one of the most common calls we get and one of the least commonly repaired properly, because the default fix is to replace the whole assembly. Most of the time the fault is upstream of it.
Common faults
Ice Maker problems we fix
If you recognise the symptom, tell us when you call. It narrows the fault before we arrive.
No ice at all
Water inlet valve, a frozen fill tube, or the ice maker module. Three different repairs, and the fill tube is the most common.
Hollow or undersized cubes
Low water flow. Usually the inlet valve or a partially frozen line rather than the ice maker itself.
Ice tastes or smells wrong
An old filter, or a water line that has sat unused. Common in lake and second homes that stand empty for stretches.
Ice maker flooded the freezer
The fill tube froze and water kept coming, or the inlet valve is leaking through. Worth fixing quickly before it reaches the compartment below.
Cubes stuck together in one solid block
Slow production letting cubes fuse, or a door seal problem letting warm air in and refreezing.
Dispenser doesn't dispense but the bin has ice
Dispenser motor, the auger, or ice fused in the bin. Usually mechanical and usually straightforward.
How we diagnose it
The $89 tells you what's actually wrong
We test the fill valve, water line, mold heater and control module rather than replacing the whole assembly on principle. That distinction matters: the complete ice maker assembly often gets replaced when it was never the thing that failed.
You get a firm price before any work starts, and the $89 comes straight off the bill when you go ahead.

- 1We find the fault
Tested, not guessed at.
- 2You get a firm price
Before anything is opened up.
- 3You decide
Including when we say don't.
- 4Backed 90 days
Parts and labor both.
Brands
Ice Maker brands we service
We diagnose to the brand and fit the correct part rather than a universal one.

Questions
Ice Maker repair questions
Can you repair just the ice maker, or does the whole fridge need work?
Just the ice maker, in most cases. It's a self-contained assembly fed by a water line, and both are serviceable on their own.
My ice maker flooded the freezer. Is that a big repair?
Usually not. It's typically a frozen fill tube or a valve leaking through. The mess is worse than the fault.
Do you service standalone and under-counter ice machines?
Yes, alongside in-door and in-freezer units.
The house was empty for months and now there's no ice. Why?
Ice makers and water lines don't like sitting unused. It's one of the most common calls we get from lake and second homes, and usually straightforward.

★★★★★Extremely happy with response and service quality. Expecting to leave a message because it was Memorial Day, I was pleasantly surprised when the phone was answered. Appointment made for the next day for my washing machine which was making ugly noises. John arrived right on time and discovered what turned out to be a foreign object under the drum - then charged me only for the call out which was a bargain. Honest and fast and responsive.
