Washer
Washer repair, diagnosed properly
Washers fail loudly, and usually mid-cycle with a drum full of water. Front-load and top-load machines break in different ways, and high-efficiency machines add a layer of electronics that older ones didn't have.
Common faults
Washer problems we fix
If you recognise the symptom, tell us when you call. It narrows the fault before we arrive.
Won't drain, and the drum is full of water
Nine times out of ten it's the drain pump, and often something that got past the filter is jamming it. Coins, hair clips and screws are the usual culprits.
Won't spin, or clothes come out soaking wet
A lid switch or door lock on a top loader, a worn drive belt, or a control board that isn't calling for spin. Quick to narrow down once the machine is open.
Loud grinding or a drum that rocks when you push it
Drum bearings, and on a front loader that's a significant repair. Worth catching early, because a failing bearing eventually damages the outer tub too.
Leaking onto the floor
Door gasket on a front loader, a hose connection, or the pump seal. Where the water appears tells us a lot before we open anything.
Stops mid-cycle or throws an error code
Tell us the code when you call. It usually narrows the fault before we arrive, which means fewer trips.
Filling slowly or not at all
Inlet valve or a blocked inlet screen. Sometimes it's just the supply tap or a kinked hose, which we'll tell you rather than charge you for.
Smells musty even after cleaning
Common on front loaders. Usually the gasket and the drain trap rather than a fault, and there's a right way to fix it for good.
How we diagnose it
The $89 tells you what's actually wrong
We start with the drain path and the door lock, because between them they explain most washer calls. Bearings get checked by hand before anything is dismantled, since that's the one repair where the honest answer is sometimes that the machine isn't worth it.
You get a firm price before any work starts, and the $89 comes straight off the bill when you go ahead.

- 1We find the fault
Tested, not guessed at.
- 2You get a firm price
Before anything is opened up.
- 3You decide
Including when we say don't.
- 4Backed 90 days
Parts and labor both.

Questions
Washer repair questions
Do you work on both front-load and top-load washers?
Yes, including high-efficiency machines and stacked laundry units in tight closets.
Is a bearing replacement worth doing?
Sometimes. It depends on the machine's age and quality. On a well-built machine it can be worth it; on a budget unit near the end of its life it usually isn't, and we'll say so.
Can you service a stacked washer and dryer in a closet?
Yes. Tight-clearance installations are routine and we come prepared to pull and reseat the units safely.
My washer is only a few years old. Should it be failing already?
With heavy household use, it isn't unusual. Most machines are rated for average loads rather than daily ones, and many of those early failures are straightforward repairs.
Do you work with landlords and property managers?
Yes. We can coordinate tenant access and give you a firm number before starting.

★★★★★Extremely happy with response and service quality. Expecting to leave a message because it was Memorial Day, I was pleasantly surprised when the phone was answered. Appointment made for the next day for my washing machine which was making ugly noises. John arrived right on time and discovered what turned out to be a foreign object under the drum - then charged me only for the call out which was a bargain. Honest and fast and responsive.
