Dishwasher
Dishwasher repair, diagnosed properly
A dishwasher that leaves dishes dirty and a dishwasher that leaks are usually two different faults, and neither of them is the detergent. Most of what we find is a pump, a spray arm, or a connection made badly during a kitchen remodel.
Common faults
Dishwasher problems we fix
If you recognise the symptom, tell us when you call. It narrows the fault before we arrive.
Dishes come out dirty or gritty
Blocked spray arms, a clogged filter, or a wash pump that isn't building pressure. Water temperature and a failing inlet valve can produce the same symptom.
Standing water in the bottom after every cycle
Drain pump, a blocked drain hose, or a garbage disposal knockout plug that was never removed when the dishwasher was installed. That last one catches out a lot of new installs.
Leaking onto the kitchen floor
Door seal, a spray arm hitting something it shouldn't, or a hose connection. Post-remodel leaks are very often a clearance or connection issue rather than a failed appliance.
Won't start, or the control panel is unresponsive
Door latch switch, control board, or the touch panel itself. Worth diagnosing properly, since a control board is one of the pricier parts.
Not drying properly
Heating element, vent flap, or a rinse-aid dispenser that has stopped dosing. On condensation-dry models it can also be normal behaviour being mistaken for a fault.
Noisy — grinding or humming
Something in the pump housing, or a worn wash motor bearing. Glass fragments and fruit stones are frequent finds.
How we diagnose it
The $89 tells you what's actually wrong
We check the drain path, the filter and the spray arms before touching electronics, because those explain most calls. On anything installed during a remodel we look at the install itself — clearance, drain height, air gap — since a correctly working dishwasher plumbed wrong behaves exactly like a broken one.
You get a firm price before any work starts, and the $89 comes straight off the bill when you go ahead.

- 1We find the fault
Tested, not guessed at.
- 2You get a firm price
Before anything is opened up.
- 3You decide
Including when we say don't.

Questions
Dishwasher repair questions
My kitchen was remodeled and the dishwasher keeps leaking. Is that fixable?
Usually. Post-remodel leaks are often a connection or clearance issue rather than a failed appliance, and we check that first.
Is it worth repairing a dishwasher?
Often yes, particularly for pumps, seals and spray arms. A failed control board on an older budget machine is where it starts getting marginal, and we'll tell you when you're at that point.
Do you work on integrated and panel-ready dishwashers?
Yes, including the built-in units many general repair services turn down.
Why is there water left in the bottom?
A small amount is normal by design on some models. A full basin isn't, and that usually points at the drain pump or the drain line.
Do you service condos and rental properties?
Yes, we work with homeowners, landlords and property managers.

★★★★★Extremely happy with response and service quality. Expecting to leave a message because it was Memorial Day, I was pleasantly surprised when the phone was answered. Appointment made for the next day for my washing machine which was making ugly noises. John arrived right on time and discovered what turned out to be a foreign object under the drum - then charged me only for the call out which was a bargain. Honest and fast and responsive.
